Fun on the beaches
There are two beaches available in Gyenesdiás for the lovers of bathing, swimming and sunshine. We are proud to announce that both of our beaches have been awarded again in 2021. Both Diás Beach and Gyenes Beach reacquired the Blue Wave Flag Award in 2021 with 5 stars.

In 2020 the Diás Beach became the best beach at Lake Balaton with the most points and also received the title “best-prepared beach in the pandemic situation”, too. The beach obtained the title “family-friendly beach of Balaton”. It offers various programmes and the following services:

• for little guests: playground, natural paddling-pool, once free slip on the giant water slide; animation: kids’ programmes, sports championships, mini disco, etc.
• for sports fans: sports fields such as beach volleyball courts with lights, beach football field, table tennis, streetball field, chess; sport in the water: water polo, heading goals, basketball, volleyball – championships, water aerobics and various entertainment programmes daily organised by our animation team;
• for lazybones and sun-seekers: spacious lawn, the beach radio provides good music and useful information on programmes
• safety: first-aid station, doctor, safes;
• plus: rentals, free internet, restaurants, snack bars and free parking.

The Beach in Gyenes is preferred by families with kids and sun-seekers due to its cosy and intimate atmosphere. Kids can frolic around and cool off on hot summer days in the shallow water or they can dig tunnels and make castles in the big sandpit, while mom and dad relax and chill out on the shore. Besides bathing, the beach attracts active guests with beach volleyball and beach soccer.

Active holiday experience… in the hills, valleys and on the water all year

Besides swimming and sunbathing there are a lot of other activities in Gyenesdiás you can take advantage of:

• for every day various active and family-friendly programmes organized by the animation team on the Diás beach, and Saturdays programmes for kids on the Gyenes beach
• hiking on well-marked trails in the Keszthely Hills starting from the outing centre “Nagymező” (Big Meadow) to viewing towers, springs, caves, etc
• cycling on a bike path, dirt tracks or trails in the hills, even with a guide
• wine tasting at the Darnay cellar
• in the House of Nature Visitor Centre, you can learn more about the vegetation and the natural values of the Keszthely hills
• sailing or boat trips, angling
• stroking and feeding of native animals at the Animal farm
• try your hand at pottery and clay work at the Pottery house
• different sport shooting disciplines for everyone on the sport shooting range
• bowling, squash, billiards, mini-golf
• make your own jewellery in the Crafty workshop at the Herdsman’s house
• Historical Avar exhibition at the Herdsman’s house
• in winter ice skating on the lake, sledge riding on the nearby hills

In addition, visitors can enjoy Hungarian cuisine with famous delicious wines and the art of hospitality. At the market in Gyenesdiás, you can buy fish and products of small farmers like flatbread, pancake, goats cheese, homemade marmalade and syrup, fruit and vegetables, honey etc.
